Coworkers vs. Crisis #7 – Michal Stachnik from Cisco
Even "big" HubHub members such as corporations have to face the coronavirus situation. Next part of our Coworkers vs. Crisis series unveils some information from Cisco thanks to its GM for Slovak and Czech Republic Michal Stachnik!
Michal Stachnik is a member of our Prague’s coworking space HubHub Palác ARA. He works as the General Manager of Cisco Systems for Slovak and Czech Republic. Cisco is the worldwide technology leader that has been making the Internet work since 1984. Its people, products and partners help society securely connect and seize the opportunities of tomorrow by proving that amazing things can happen when you connect the unconnected.
How has the current situation affected your business?
There is no significant impact from our organizational perspective, how we are operating. Friday before the quarantine was our last day in an office, and we were told: „Starting Monday, we are all in virtual mode“. But on the other hand, of course, we’ve been hit from our customer’s perspective. Some of our customers from the hospitality and automotive segment, of course, are now fighting with elementary issues how to survive and postponing projects.
In times of pandemic, many businesses started to use online platforms for conferences. Can you tell us a little bit more about Webex?
Webex is the leading enterprise solution for video conferencing, online meetings, screen share, and webinars. We’re connecting hospitals, governments, and businesses. Even though we can see so many tools and platforms for video conferences popular in these pandemic times, Webex is still the world’s most popular and secure video conferencing service.
Key learning point and your advice to other businesses?
Just be just generally prepared, and let’s move on! Don’t wait if this situation comes again.
Where do you see the biggest opportunities for Cisco right now in terms of market?
For us, it is a great thing we don’t need to invent a totally new product to address crisis like this. The future of work is IoT / Remote work – in all these segments, it’s all about connectivity, which is a natural business for us. One of our pillars of how we’re building a business is cybersecurity. From a short term perspective – people would like to have basic collaboration platforms – whatever it will be and of course, they will be fighting with issues how to secure (VPN, Authentication). In the long term, there will be more significant demand from overall transport capacity.
How can you help other coworkers in HubHub?
We provide solutions through the cloud, video, security, analytics, collaboration, and mobility. Everyone is welcome and come to see us in HubHub Palac ARA. We will be happy to meet you in person. You know, “Firstly you have to taste it, before trying!”.
