HubHub London Launch Party: ‘Tech for good’ and great conversations!
With HubHub at 20 Farringdon Street now up and running, we marked its official opening in true HubHub style with a special launch party! We had an amazing night celebrating alongside our members and discussing ‘Tech for Positive Impact’ with thought leaders from across the tech community.
It was an inspirational evening brimming with innovative tech, robots and VR experiences, inspiring talks from special guests, a Tech for Positive Impact exhibition and tours of our co-working space.
TELL US ABOUT THE THEME FOR THE EVENING?
Speakers and panellists on the night presented how they are using tech to scale solutions to make the world a better place, together we tackled pressing issues such as climate change, domestic abuse, and online sexual harassment. At HubHub we want to create a community of tech-driven-innovative startups, who also believe in using this tech for the greater good. Through our spaces and events, we encourage our members to engage with each other and we try to create interesting and timely topics that really echo throughout the society and discuss how tech can help solve not just our daily problems, but also humanity’s greatest challenges!
WHO WAS SPEAKING AT THE EVENT?
Fernanda Munhoz, Project Director at AI for Good, and one of our members, opened the discussions and spoke about one of their latest projects, rAInbow, which is using AI technology to help women going through abuse, by providing opportunities to escape isolation through their platform, sharing personalised and immersive stories.
We were also joined by Thomas Christensen, Content Editor at Nexus VR, who told the audience how their VR technology can harness connections between humans and nature and empower us to live in better harmony with our environment.
Finally, we heard from Azmina Dhrodia, Head of Operations at Block Party (previously Amnesty International!), who spoke about how the technology start-up is working to address online harassment on social media platforms and empower users with greater controls and filters over their communications online.
WHAT ELSE DID PARTY GOERS EXPERIENCE?
It was wonderful to see so many HubHub members and attendees deep in conversation on the community floor and enjoying the drinks, food and fantastic live music!
The party also featured an interactive gallery, with tech projects solving important issues such human rights injustice, abuse, racism, poverty and climate change, helping to inspire guests and members to understand how tech can help make the world a better place.
Members and guests were also able to take tours of the HubHub space, spanning four floors at 20 Farringdon, with space able to cater for anything from start-ups to scale-ups, where the provision of agile workstations in communal areas are complemented by user-focused amenities, including everything from chill-out zones, to games areas with VR headsets, and a fully-stocked library.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR HubHub?
